From St Kilda to King's Cross

Again it's been a while between drinks! So now I'm sitting here on the couch with a very large one (drink that is - cup of tea with honey) and The Brady Bunch paused indefinitely in front of me, so you have my undivided attention, ready to tell you all the news.

Frida is chugging along really nicely. Lewis, a few of his Cactus Club members and I are preparing two Frida tunes to audition to win an all expenses paid trip to Singapore to play in the Baybeats Festival over there...fingers crossed!

At first I was so nervous, taking my little songs to Lewis, then to an actual band, with my airy-fairy ideas about colours and memories and harmonies that hug you, but now I feel a lot better about things, and the more I hear the music, and play the music with these wonderful talented people, I feel fulfilled, like I'm finally doing something right and all I needed was some loving help.

I went to see Paul Kelly and Neil Finn with Lisa Mitchell last night with my Aunty, and it was INCREDIBLE. Lisa Mitchell, firstly, did a really laid back set which suited her really well. She's got such a sweet, tender voice that I like to hear it over the top of all the instrumentation. Paul Kelly and Neil Finn were just amazing. Amazing. It's unthinkable, the amount of wonderful songs they have between them. Their voices harmonised so perfectly and oh man it was just so goooooooooooood! Here are some highlights.

Yeah you get it. So good.

Don't forget about Nebraskatak's EP launch at the Evelyn on the 22nd March! Almost exactly a month away....!!! Here's a sneak peak at the poster, shh.

  1. Our NYC photographer friend, Leslie Fratkin, photographed Crowded House in Melbourne, back in the 1980s. She reported being completely charmed by them. http://www.lesliefratkin.com/portrait%207.htm

I find these Finn and Kelly songs utterly beautiful.
