~Saying Sorry~
When I'm slumpy I hate myself and I take it out on people who try to help. I have an amazing temper for someone who wears so many colours and it bubbles very close to the surface during these times. I try to apologise to everyone who's been caught in the crossfire. ~Running~
Over last two days I've run about 15km, which isn't very far but it does feel very far when you are at 5.5km and your hairline is a sweatline. The great thing about it is that it does feel much further away from your terrible head than you really are. Running yourself into the ground is supposed to be a negative saying but really, running until I can't run any more has offered more comfort than many of the other techniques I have tried to un-slump myself, which is why it is second this list.
~Animals And Little Kids~
OK my dog Soda is the funniest and the stupidest dog in the whole world I don't care what you say. Simply being around him for five minutes is enough to make me forget about being sorry for myself as he watches me with his droopy eyes and drools and stinks. We have these hilarious teenage ducks now too, who are caught awkwardly between being fully grown and being ducklings. They are pretty ugly but funny little things that are so hilarious to watch, when they swim in the little kiddie pool we got for them. I also teach a little girl who is five years old; I teach her about music and she teaches me how simple and fun just existing can be. Last night we talked about our favourite flavour of icypole and played musical statues and wrote songs about lunchtime and it was really, really fun.
~Doing Things~
Some people fall into the slumpy trap of not doing anything and staying in bed and shutting down. I have to admit this isn't really my style, probably because of the hideous temper I have burning me up inside sometimes. But for when you've run yourself into a stupor and things still aren't so grand I gotta say, doing things is like the best advice I could give. I did lots of little productive things today and I feel pretty good about them and about achieving them. And tomorrow Frida has an audition and I will feel good about doing that which sort of brings me to the next thing which is pretty self explanatory...
